It came into my mind that in FPS games it is very common to have cooperative maps. Cooperative means objective is not achieveable with only one playing party. Usually cooperative elements are: - Enemy which can only be killed with a cooperative attack - Doors that are opening only when 2 units are pressing the door opener at the same time - Doors are opening in a situation when the player is locked inside the room if door is not opened from another place. - Doors which are only opening from one direction only - One unit must occupy a position to keep the route free for the other unit - One unit can change the map layout while the other player is moving forward in the changing environment - Teleports that are activated remotely by the other player - All two parties must be present at the same time in a designated location to achieve the objective - One player can revive the other player's dead unit to fight the outnumbered enemy - One player fights with the air force while to other player is moving the ground force. If air defense fails, ground force is attacked from the air.
Maybe it is a different game to have these features, I just did not want to let these thoughts vanish.
I like the idea of cooperative maps or missons. The 2 player ones on this site I like but only have a simple role for the parties to carry out which is to fight together. What Hokunda is suggesting is interesting. It would work on this site to have more complex roles and specific tasks because most players know each other well. A Meltdown reactor mission with specific tasks for survival. It may not even need an enemy force in the mission.
I'll add these to my todo list. The only minor drawback I can see is if an inexperienced player didn't realise what they were supposed to do, or if there's a lack of communication between players. It would make for some interesting missions though.
